Girl’s Night at The Nutcracker | St. Louis, MO Photographer

I’m still catching up on my personal photos from December. No matter how organized I think I am, something seems to go by the way side.

On Christmas Eve Eve, Julianne and I joined 27 of our friends at The Nutcracker at the Touhill presented by the St. Louis Ballet. We took up almost an entire row in the balcony! It was so much fun seeing all the girls with wonder on their faces; most of them (or their mothers) had ever seen a ballet, let alone The Nutcracker. I never realized how much I’ve taken for granted my artsy parents and their influence on my life. We *always* were at art shows, or festivals or so it seemed. I brought Julianne last year and she absolutely loved it, so this year she wanted to bring all of her friends. It was a wonderful evening! Who knows? Maybe next year, we’ll take up an entire section of the theatre.

My Mom, and sisters, Nicole & Laura.

Don’tcha wish your Timeline | St. Louis, MO portrait photographer

cover photo was cute like me? (ok, that doesn’t really work well.) Facebook is unveiling Timeline profiles available to everyone this week. I, personally, love the new changes, but then I usually am one that adapts well to things like this. If you’re having trouble loving it or just want an amazing timeline cover photo, let me know and I’ll create one for you. Here are a couple of samples I’ve made today.

much thanks to EW Couture!

Julianne’s 7th Birthday | The Lough-Down

2012 is just flying by already! Julianne’s birthday always feels like it creeps on us after all the holiday madness. This year she chose to have a Tangled theme birthday (for the 2nd year in a row.) Needless to say, it’s one of our favorite movies.

I still can’t believe she’s seven – SEVEN! I’m so glad there are photographs of her as an infant, because it’s hard to picture that way anymore. And to make matters worse, she lost her 2nd front tooth the day after her party. She seems so big.

Here are a few (cough, cough) pictures of her birthday and her party:

This is Julianne after school. Her sweet teacher gave her a giant pixi stick with a birthday balloon on top. She loved it!

She is about all things American Girl these days. I bought her a doll carrying tote and Dave made her a pretty doll bed. I made Molly’s bedding to match Julianne’s.

My Mom & Dad made her Tangled tower cake. I think they try to out-do themselves with each cake. Last year’s Tangled cake revolved around the lake scene; it was so pretty. This year’s was just incredible. They never let any details go unnoticed and it tasted delicious. The bottom three layers were chocolate and funfetti, per Julianne’s request. And a couple of Silas. He’s too cute.

Happy Birthday, Big Girl!

Family of Six | Lake Sherwood, MO Family Photographer

It all started in 1992 when Ward met Lindsay in Sunday School. They knew each other for almost a decade before becoming engaged and married within just 3 months of each other. Almost another 10 years later, they have four of the most adorable, sweetest children. 4 children, 5 years old and under. They have their hands full and are loving it. If you’d like to follow their adventure and found out about a few coupon deals in the meantime, you can find Mrs. Ward here.

Mr. Kai turned five the day after we shot these photos. Happy Birthday, Big Guy! Kai will probably design airplanes or solve world hunger. I hear he’s already learning algebra. Who does that at 4 years young?Miss Kaytie is just the sweetest thing. She loved showing off her sparkly dress and beautiful smile.Kaesen & Korbin might as well be twins. Don’t you think they look alike? Mr. Korbin and I met when he was born this past August. You might remember his big arrival, but if that wasn’t enough, he was determined to give his mother a heart attack this past week. You can read her full story below. This little guy has big things in store for him; I just know it. He is quite loved.

For those who are unaware of what happened in our home this week I thought I would share our story of Thanksgiving and thank all of you who have been so diligently praying for our family. We have had a year of witnessing miracle after miracle from unlikely circumstances. As most of you know, we welcomed our fourth child, a beautiful baby boy- Korbin, back in August. The story of his arrival and God’s miraculous intervention in my own health concerns that remained after his birth were enough reason to make this the most blessed Thanksgiving our family has ever had. Then on Tuesday- the unthinkable happened.

Korbin was laying in his crib while his siblings were napping and I was sorting clothes. I had turned on his monitor in the room I was in so I could hear him if he started crying. His monitor is one that has a sensor that lays under the mattress and sounds an alarm if it does not detect movement for 20 seconds. We purchased this monitor five years ago before the birth of our first and always just liked having the extra peace of mind.

Probably only about 5-10 minutes after I laid him down, the alarm went off. I rushed in (even though I was expecting it to be a false alarm) and found that he had flipped onto his face and suffocated himself in his mattress. He was completely blue, not breathing and unresponsive. I tried to rouse him, but couldn’t get him to breathe at all. I laid him down and started CPR. He didn’t respond to chest compressions, so I gave him a breath. Still nothing. More chest compressions- nothing. I gave him another breath and he whimpered a bit and began breathing.

I called 911 and when the paramedics arrived he was breathing but still completely limp and non responsive. He opened his eyes briefly in the ambulance but was not responding or even conscious, really. I was grateful that he was breathing but by looking at him I honestly did not think there was any way that the lack of oxygen had not caused brain damage. However, when we arrived at the ER, he suddenly came to. He started responding, gaining color and even grinning at me.

They transferred us to St. Louis and we spent some time in the pediatric intensive care unit, but miraculously he is perfectly fine. No problems, no complications, no damage. Never has Thanksgiving meant more. God has seen fit to show His power and mercy repeatedly in our lives this year and I am so humbled that he has allowed us to be a testimony to just what an awesome God He is.

Thank you so very much to those who have been praying for us and know this holiday season that the God we serve is indeed, mighty to save. – Lindsay S.
