It was a pretty unconventional first meeting the first time I talked with Hannah. Fire trucks lined the street in front of my house. Firemen raced around the house across from us, searching for the fire. Hoses were thrown around the yards. Smoke filled the front living room window, but no fire was evident from the outside.
I sat in my driveway trying to make sense of what was going on. I knew the cars in the driveway belonged to the parents of the home, but I never saw either of them. Finally, the eldest daughter came out of the garage. I ran over to see if there was anything I could do. Hannah looked terrified, but all was OK. Her parents were out of town and while cooking, a grease fire had started in the kitchen! She had acted quickly and put it out with an extinguisher, and even had the sense to grab the pan and bring it outside. The firemen cleared the house and we started to clean up her nightmare. Extinguisher powder covered EVERYTHING!
While cleaning their entire kitchen, I learned a small portion of what an amazing girl Hannah is. She is definitely the epitome of “the girl next-door.” She is quiet and kind, humble and classically feminine. Doesn’t she look like Kate Middleton? If there is ever a movie made of Kate, Hannah could double for her, in my opinion. I admire her brave actions the night of the fire and enjoyed getting to know her even more at her recent senior portrait session. (which you could never tell, but we had 40mph gust winds the day of her session. wowzah!)
Goodness, I just love spring when everything is in bloom!
Thank you, Hannah! You are beautiful and I can’t wait to see what you do in the coming years. No more fires, though.
